Description¶
A senior priest of a Temple or Great Temple, ranking above the working Priests but below the High Priest. Serves at the great rites, sits on the temple council, may hold a benefice from the temple's lands. Wears the vestments of his rank on holy days; keeps a private cell for prayer, correspondence, and small ceremonies. When the High Priest is absent or unable, a Hierophant carries the god's word in his place.
Composes as Hierophant in the Faithful axis (Temple and Great Temple themes) — see Faithful: Hierophant (theme).
Design notes¶
- Fills the CR 4 divine niche between the SRD Priest (CR 2, 5th-level cleric) and the CR 6 High Priest (13th-level cleric).
- Divine Eminence mirrors the Priest's bonus-action feature at a higher damage tier.
- Spell selection is SRD-compatible.
- Divine Radiance provides post-slot reliability, matching the arcane-side pattern of Arcane Bolt.
- Original stat block; not copied from any WotC supplement.
